The debut of Thirteen Reasons Why, the stage play, is so close! Next week, I'm heading to Antioch, Illinois to speak at the high school and then attend one of their performances.
The following rehearsal photos gave me a serious case of goosebumps. It looks so cool! I think it's fairly obvious which scenes they're performing.
I can't wait to see these sets, and these actors, and this play in person...on Friday the 13th.
I'm so nervously excited!!!

Wow, that seems very cool!!! I wish them all the luck in the world to make that happen!!!
oh a have a question
what about the Dark Side Productions Series in YouTube? Are they also doing a series on the book? Just wondering......
Jay, that is very cool. I had no idea people were taking your book to the stage. Sounds exciting. Enjoy it!
I love that they made the rocket. How cute. =)
Next 13RW will come out as a movie, I wish. This is already fabulous though, I hope you have fun! :D
I'm an Antioch parent of one of the Actors in the 13RW play, I had reservations about her participating in this "heavy" play. I'm now halfway through the book, and not only think EVERY teen should read it, but am thrilled she's involved in something SO important, and has a new compassion for an awareness of teen suicide, that I had no idea was so rampant. Thanks Jay, for writing this book, and making the trip to Antioch for their production of 13RW! It means SO much to them!!
ACHS is the sister school of the school I'm currently attending LCHS. Unlike many schools ACHS and LCHS tends to pick "heavier" plays. I was just wondering if ACHS was raising money for teen suicide sorta like how LCHS raised money for A SAFE PLACE?
that is so awesome Jay - hope you are well.
I'm in the airport, waiting to board my flight to Illinois. So excited!
Yes, ACHS is using this production to raise awareness about several issues discussed in 13RW, which is absolutely wonderful.
Did I mention I'm excited? I am!!!
I'm seeing the play tonight. I hope it's good. :)
i love you romelle taday! good luck! jay asher, i love your book. right now i'm going through a hard time in my life and i always think about your bok.
I wonder how that will be done?? >.<
wow. I am impressed by these teenagers who have made your book into a play. I haven't read your book, i just came here from Ben Esch's site. I'm an adult, and recently had a friend and fellow health care professional who committed suicide. This is something that takes too many of our young people, our bright and creative people, our loved ones, away from us. Thank you for putting this out there.
Well, I´m from Germany and read your book about 5 times now.
It´s so incredible. I spoke about it in front of my class and wrote a song. I just love it. It makes me think before I do something that I´ll maybe regret in the end.
Thanks for all this words.
Hope you´re coming to Germany soon. We´re all waiting for you ;)
