At any Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators National Conference in L.A., Day 2 is most remembered for one thing. The party! This year, the theme was The Blue Moon Ball.
I went as Austin Powers, and here are some of the other true blue attendees (and no, I have no idea why I thought "serious face" was the way to go)...
Varian Johnson:
Thalia Chaltas:
Paula Yoo:
Linda Sue Park:
Richard Peck:
Tomorrow, it's back to attending writing workshops...and dressing in comfortable shoes!

Hahaha love the costume!
You are rocking the blue velvet suit!!
I SO wanted to be there, but I'm in Australia seeing my newest niece, and my sister. I guess it is a pretty alright alternative :)
You looked great as Austin and that party looked like loads of fun!
Great hanging out with you this weekend, Jay. I'll be in touch later in the week. p
Your costume was awesome. I didn't even know it was you until someone clued me in later in the night.
I put a taco in my purse at the Blue Moon Ball. They were yummylicious and anyway, who's got 9 bucks for stale minibar Pringles? Thanks for the pix. Dig the suit.
YOU are a nut.
My fave Richard Peck quote from a talk he gave in Portland, "I wanted to have ADHD, but my mother wouldn't let me."
