As an aspiring author, I appreciated hearing how you navigated your way through the maze of publishing industry rejections and prevailed in your journey to reach your readership.

I also found it fascinating to hear how 13 Reasons Why originated with your relative's experience of attempting suicide. To reach a point where, after 10 years, you've touched the lives of so many teens, parents, counselors, and humans generally is just amazing. It was especially powerful to hear the testimonials of the depressed readers who found hope, and those who reached out to suicidal friends and helped them.

Your workshops at the Central Coast Writers Conference this past weekend were fantastic, as well! Your path from published novel to Netflix series took so many interesting, weird, and unexpected twists and turns, and you persevered through it all. At the end of that path, you truly found the right team and cast, and it was worth the wait!

To readers of this blog: If you have the opportunity to see Jay speak, don't miss that chance. I've been to many writers' conferences, and Jay stands out in his ability to distill some of his most valuable life and work lessons into gold that will benefit you as you develop your career.

I'm looking forward to Jay's new graphic novel, Piper, which launches on Halloween. May it find the right Hollywood home for film production!Matthew Towerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05292979312420019702noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30155656.post-39330881599990201582017-09-15T16:11:49.981-07:002017-09-15T16:11:49.981-07:00Well done - from another devoted, slightly, mildly...Well done - from another devoted, slightly, mildly - ok over the top - obsessed Charles Schulz fan! I totally understand your awe and reverence of the Charles Schulz Museum, and I could feel your amazement at all you saw, especially your conversation with his widow. Now if you just hadn't included the background story of your character-filled backpack.... As you know, I share your devotion to all things PEANUTS, and I am beyond delighted that you shared this dream-come-true experience. Thank you for sharing this semi-private moment with all of us Out Here. I wish you continued health, joy, and success.
